Skin Refining Cream
with BHA
Topical vitamin C protects
the skin against photoageing by absorbing free radicals, as well
as stimulate collagen synthesis. It is therefore, used to treat
photodamaged skin and to help refine and smoothen the skin. Vitamin
C 10% is the ideal concentration but unfortunately, vitamin C
is unstable and rapidly oxidized. SkinWizard's unique combination
of10% L-ascorbic acid with 2% salicylic acid overcomes this problem.
Furthermore, the beta-hydroxy acid (BHA), salicylic acid works
synergistically with vitamin C to reduce lines. Unlike alpha
hydroxy acids (AHAs), salicylic acid is lipid soluble and easily
gets into the dermis where it can stimulate fibroblast synthesis
of collagen. Salicylic acid also does not induce the tolerance
seen with AHAs where the benefits taper off after about 2 months.
Recognizing these limitations, AHA products are now incorporating
BHAs like salicylic acid and BHAs may, one day, replace AHAs
altogether.
